Autumn Newsletter 2012
The end of June saw the end of an era as our longest serving receptionist retired. Pam Davies has been with us for 25 years. She has seen the practice grow and develop in that time and has been an important part of our team. Always a smiling face on reception, with an infectious laugh she learnt many new skills along the way. A tea party was held at the practice for friends and patients and all the staff had a lovely evening meal to celebrate and thank Pam for her very loyal service.

One of our main glazing companies invited our staff along to their laboratory to see first hand all the processes involved when making lenses and glazing frames. It enabled us to have a better understanding of this very high tech process and see how hard they work to achieve best results for our patients. We are very grateful to Lenstec for giving us this opportunity.

Michael and Robin also enjoyed a very busy weekend in Budapest, Hungary learning more about Sauflons new multifocal contact lens and seeing them produced in a very clinical environment.
The Maui Jim sunglasses have been very well received, and to celebrate we held a Sunglass Event. The day was a great success with everyone having the opportunity to try on different styles and see for themselves the benefit of their brilliantly designed polarised lenses. They cut out UV A, B and C rays and greatly reduces glare and reflections. Michael and Sally took The Maui Jim collection to a Chamber of Trade business networking event at The Fishguard Bay Hotel. This gave both local and Irish businesses the opportunity to network and see just what we are able to offer as an independent business.

Robin was yet again involved in sporting activities but this time as an optometrist at the Paralympics. He volunteered his professional skills during the games and was extremely busy seeing patients from all over the world. Some countries have little eye care provision, so patients are extremely grateful for this service. ‘The whole atmosphere was amazing’ said Robin ‘And I was fortunate to get tickets for the seated volley ball and power lifting events’.
As autumn arrives, so do our latest collection of new frames. Hugo Boss for men and women offer ‘refined elegance in high quality materials’.
